Photek has a long history of successful design, fabrication and delivery of photon imaging detectors for space missions. These rugged detectors enable the imaging of very faint objects and processes sometimes only detectable from space based platforms.
The components are essentially the same as a standard build, but we always try to use space pedigree if possible. Photek qualifies the complete system through environmental testing. Because of the space environment, it is important that we do the thermal, vacuum, and vibration testing for each detector. Detectors will sit in a thermal chamber for about 30 days going from minus 20 to positive 50 degrees Celsius, up and down every other day. We do these extra steps to make sure that the flight detector model is guaranteed for the space environment.
